ABOUT

Anne Medlin Lowe

Anne Medlin Lowe is a partner at Fugate Gangstad Lowe, where she represents owner-operated Indiana businesses and individuals. Her work runs from the contracts a business relies on to the disputes that arise when an agreement breaks down, with a particular focus on construction and the trades.

Anne advises clients according to a consistent principle: she gives the advice that is right for the business, tells clients directly when a matter is not worth pursuing, and manages each engagement with careful attention to the client's resources. For a small business owner, a lawsuit or dispute is a serious disruption, and she approaches it with an eye toward efficiency rather than motion for its own sake. Much of her litigation work traces back to poorly drafted agreements, and much of her drafting work is aimed at keeping clients out of court.

Anne works with owner-operated Indiana companies, including trade contractors, small manufacturers and distributors, professional service firms, restaurant and hospitality groups, B2B service companies, and small commercial real estate operators. Construction is a principal focus of her practice and not a limit on it.

Anne is fluent in the technical and practical side of construction work. She reads plans, contracts, and industry terminology without needing them translated, which lets her get to the substance of a construction matter quickly.

Anne represents clients in commercial contract disputes, non-compete and departing-employee matters, partnership and shareholder disputes, mechanic's liens and construction payment claims, vendor and lease disputes, and collections, as well as contract drafting and business formation.

Before entering private practice, Anne served for two years as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Paul D. Mathias of the Indiana Court of Appeals.
